Deep brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and some nuts. Medium-bodied; Creamy and roasty flavour with a nice bitterness at end. Aftertaste clean and sharp, but relatively nice. Overall, a nice break from Guinness, but the reminders of THE irish beer are still everywhere in this one! Definitely nice to try in Ireland. I sampled this pint on draught at the MessRS Maguire Brewpub in Central Dublin on 19-February-2009.

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival 2007. A black beer with a brown shine under a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and hints of smoke from black malt, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Dark ruby, almost opaque color, nice expresso head, some lace. Some roasted and papery notes in the nose. Coffeish, coffee beans all over. Clean, a bit lagerish product. Nicely drinkable.

Bottled. Ruby red colour, brown mediumsized head. Aroma is smoked and roasted malts along with dry dark fruit and chocolate. Flavour is very much the same with smoked wet wooden hints added. Pleasant.

Cask@Rugby Beer Festival, 2007. Black beer with a light head. The aroma is lightly roasted and the flavour is malty and weakly roasted. Overall a plain porter.

Cask gravity at Reading BF. Powdery, choc porter. Simple, but fine. Drinkable if not exactly intense. Choc powder.

Tap at Messrs Maguire, failed pre-season trip to watch LCFC, game cancelled, 20/07/2001.
Decent well round porter in an era where there wasn't much choice in Ireland!
