The next in our Rye series, an amplified version of the first with added zesty Citra hops. Same bold spiciness, bigged up to match the bitterness and ABV; similar hops but with the injection of Citra, this Rye IPA is bursting with pineapple notes too.

Keg at the Cambridge Brewhouse. Dark gold, slightly hazy with a creamy white head. Light aroma of tangerine and rye toast. Spicy sweet taste which fades to a slightly astringent hop bitterness. Marmalade, oaky flavours and lemon rind in the aftertaste. Very heavily carbonated. It’s good but doesn’t knock it out of the park like so many of Weird Beard’s recipes.

Hazy amber beer, good cream colour head. Palate is fluffy and semi dry, good carbonation. Light malts, light creamy sweetness. Mild rye tang and unsweet toffee. Good piney hop, mild orange peel and a touch of fresh orange. A little hop spice and ripe tropical fruits. A fairly dry and spicy finish. Tasty beer but lacks something to really bring it up a tier, hard to say what!

Bottle thanks to Stuu666 and allmyvinyl. Appearance - golden amber and hazy. Nice lacy head. Nose - oranges and apricots. Creamy, fruit mousse. Taste - leaner, more like lemon and grapefruit. Palate - light bodied with a creamy yet lean middle section. Long dry finish. Overall - nose better than taste.
