10th Anniversary batch from 2005, picked up in trade Another cellar clearance. Caught a whiff of green apple as I popped the cap. Pours a deep brown but not cloudy, a very thin head that was gone before I could take the picture. Smell in the glass has some of that green apple, citrus, some weak malt, but no really off flavors. Deep ale flavor, tends a bit toward an aged barleywine. Still some effervescence, malt mildly tempered with some old hop bitterness. Held up pretty well.

Bottle thanks to Laura. Pours a cloudy copper with small white head. The aroma is caramel and honey. Sweet vanilla malt and honey caramel, hides alcohol well, really enjoyed this one.

Bomber shared at the 9th Richmond Rare & Unusual Epic Tasting, Richmond, VA, 11/30/14. Pours a hazy amber with a thin fizzy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of toffee, raisin, citrus, spice, caramel, toasted malt. The taste is toffee, spice, citrus, caramel, mild booze. Medium bodied, lingering spice, hot.

Pours an oily, muddy orange with a small, quickly dissipating white head. Faint caramel malt aroma. the flavor is very fruity and quite sweet. Alcohol is very present. Needs some balance.

Bottle at Akkurat, September 2013. Dark reddish with a lot of sediments. Sweet aroma and taste of apples, ginger, toffee, malt, spices and some oak. Also notes of alcohol. Drinkable but a little too much in the long run.

Alkoholisch strenger Geruch. Würziger Antrunk der jedoch bald abflacht.Leicht süßlich-alkoholisch, etwas im Rachen brennend.Nicht sehr aromatisch, likörartig, etwas unausgewogen, im Abgang harmonischer, stark, hefig, ok. Sehr ruppig! Vielen Dank an DerDoppelbock für das Bier!

29th June 2008. Brewed with honey and spices. The ingredients are not sublte! Sweet and aromatic with strong ginger and honey. Spice in there as well but hard to identify as it’s well integrated. A distinctive tasty beer.

Bottled at Akkurat, Stockholm (2005 vintage), thanks fiulijn! Cloudy copper colour, almost no head. Aroma of ginger, coffee and cardamom. Sweet and fruity. Quite sticky with honey and ginger as dominat features, backed up by evere amounts of alcohol. Seriously one-dimensional for such a potent beer. Like Becherovka, but less appetizing.

Bottle at Akkurat, Stockholm, vintage 2005, 3 years old
Hazy red color; thin head (if poured normally, and too much carbonation in the beer) or big creamy head with medium persistance (if poured from high, and then the beer is correctly carbonated). The aroma is a bit soapy, herbal (rosemary? heater? mild…) and shows alcohol. Good body strength, quite sweet, maybe with too much carbonation, malt and sweet caramel flavor, correct bitterness (at least, it doesn’t surpass the sweetness). The alcohol can be perceived in the final, but at 13% I can’t say that it’s too offensive. I don’t fancy too much herbal flavors (it could have been an 8-5-8-4-16), and in the final it pays a bit for it. Good but not exciting.
