This beer is of the Dortmunder variety. Its high proportion of malts and fine-quality hops, as well as its golden color and appetizing head, make Bavaria Gold a beer of European type and character. The sensory balance of freshness, body and bitterness, together with a jealously guarded production process, make Bavaria Gold a premium-quality beer that has been in production since the 1930s.

Can from Costa Rica. [Shared by Arve. Thanks!] Pours pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma is pretty light, mainly sweet malt. Sweet and watery with a hint of bitterness in the finish.

Can from Sandy O. Pours pale gold with a fizzy white head. Aroma is just bready. Flavor is bready with a little bit of noble hop to spin it along. A hint of citrus in the finish. Probably just the thing to wash down food.

Very hazy deep straw with minimal white head. Flavor is all cereal grain with a harsh bite. Not good.

Pale golden with a small white head. Aroma of grain, hay and apple peel. Sweetish malty and grainy flavour. Boring but at least clean

Bottle: Poured a light yellow color pils with a small bubbly head with minimal retention and not much lacing. Aroma of light corn notes and balanced residual sugars is OK. Taste is quite bland with light adjunct notes and a dry aftertaste. Refreshing while drunk under the hot Costa Rican sun but really quite bland overall.

From the bottle. Light grain and toast aromas. Crisp and dry with upfront grass and a lasting dry lager finish.

350 ml can drank aboard a Catamaran tour. Pour is clear golden with a one inch white head. The head is very foamy, and deposits decent lace is it retreats (clear plastic cup, mind you). Aroma of malt, spicy earthiness and a kiss of hops. This was actually the first beer I had in Costa Rica where I could smell hops. That’s good, I guess, since this was not a real pleasant hop aroma. Taste is malty, sweet chemical, grainy and a bitterness near the finish. Palate is thin with a long finish this is not terribly pleasant.

Can (BB 07/2008)
Golden color, white head. Harsh and sweet malty with cooked corn notes. Smooth carbonation. Watery palate. Quite tasteless, some tropical lager sweetness and harshness in the aftertaste.
