First pint at the Thirsty Growler after a whatever day. Lingering froth, sticky, opaque matte brown. Brown bread, saline, touch of baking spices, sawdust nose. Mellow cocoa, milk bits & a little spice. Milky body. Mildly bittersweet on the tail keeps it honest & quaffable. Good-ish.

12 oz. can from Total Wine,  San Antonio, TX. Pours a dark cola color with a large, tight khaki head and excellent retention. Not much nitro action. Light, clingy lacing. Nutty aroma, as expected. Very good roasted nuts and dark malt flavor. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Medium body. Low carbonation. Not bitter. And the 6.2 ABV is invisible. Good flavor and very easy drinking.

On tap at Craft Pride. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong roasted malt and brown sugar. Medium mouth, nice roast, caramel, dark chocolate, light bitterness, very good.

Bottle. A creamy, dark beige head of finger-thick size leaves lacings. Light brown in color. The aroma is roasted and toasted, with bread and some dried fruits. Notes of chocolate and nuts too. A faint bitterness in the flavor, with roasted malts dominating. Chocolate notes, some nuts and dried fruits. Smooth on the palate, full-bodied and semi-dry. A faint bitterness in the finish. A pretty nice one, but a bit weak I think. 140515

On draught at Hay Merchant. This brew pours brown with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and hops. Medium body with flavors of caramel malt, hops and toffee. The finish is sweet with a roasty malt aftertaste. Decent overall.
