Pivo v antickém Řecku chutnalo jinak, přesto jsme se nechali pro název inspirovat tím, že Xenofon se o „ječném víně“ zmiňuje v Anabasis. Xenofon je pivo polotmavé, silné, voňavé, především sladové, ale i hořké.

Bottle 0.75l, three years aged. Cloudy, reddish amber colored. AROMA- pale plums, cherry, plum compote, caramel, strawberry compote, raspberry. FLAVOR- creamy, lightly sweet, just slightly bitter, salted caramel, strawberry jam, cherry, plums. Fuller to full bodied. Very nice Barley Wine.

Bottle via Beermalade tasting. Full body, med-high carbonation. Assertive alcohole, present in moderate strength, but pleasantly, adding a rounded warmth, no harshness. Med-high sweetness, dried fruits, light sherry. High hoppy bitterness, med-light citrusy earthy character. Overall very well rounded. This is a sipper, rewarding even as it warms up. I could use more hops character in an American barley wine, but this is a bottle over a year old. So, great.

Tap at BGB. Lovely clear shiny coppery body, tiny off white head. Alcohol and more alcohol in the aroma, some caramelly maltiness behind. Soft candyish malty taste, red fruit, slightly oily, some other fruity touches. A slightly rough take at Life, brought down by excessive alcohol notes, even for the style.
