This beer is the favourite of Laurent Agache, who has always adored stout. “But I mean real Stout, not oversweet gassy liquids!”.
With an aim of finding a fairly marked coffee after-taste, we have chosen to use the most torrefied barley malt that can be found on the market – Black malt at 1400 EBC. As this malt is a bit acrid, we have “corrected” it by using another slightly caramelized malt (150 EBC), and some brown sugar. So that the hops can exist alongside these strong caramelized and torrefied malt flavours, we have mainly opted for the strong American hop, Tomahawk.

Black with a tan head. Fruity, yeasty and malty aroma with some tart hints and notes of dried fruit and roasted malt. Fruity, tangy and slightly roasted taste with notes of malt, dried fruit and hints of chocolate and coffee.

Bottle - Roasted malts, raisin and anise. Jet black with a foamy light brown head. Roasted malts, dark molasses, anise and a bitter almost burnt finish. The sticky molasses flavour along with the bitterness almost gives a finish of burnt sugar. That finish loses it for me.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a deep mahogany with a thin tan head. The aroma is rich and bitter. The flavour is bitter and packed with liqourice and dark chocolate. This came highly recommended and I wasn’t disappointed.

Smak och doft av choklad, kaffe, en aning laktris och bränt socker. Kryddig citrus beska med örter och med en viss fruktig eftersmak. Inte så välbalanserad. Beskan tar över.

(bottle, 33cl) Quite noir coloured hue, except for a ruby shine, beige medium-sized foamy head. Quite sweet and moderately roasted malty aroma with Belgian yeasty spice and notes of dark berries and a tinge of anise seed. Roasty bitter and unexpected mildly sweet flavour, medium bodied with a calm carbonation. Roasty malty base with a tinge of sugar, subtle fruity notes and chocolate; bitter-sweet roasty malty finish with notes of chocolate lingering into the aftertaste. 04.II.13

rood/bruin met schuimig keki kraag aroma: toffee, chocolade, mut/nattig mout, kandij suiker, cara- en gebrande mouten, alles beperkt smaak: mout, chocolade, karamel, drop, koffie, geroosterde mouten, rozijnen.krachtig moutig medium body, valt over het algemeen tegen, ik had een krachtig bier verwacht. ’t is maar een matige stout,
