San Francisco, a.k.a “The Paris of the West,” has long been home to a diverse culture of bohemians and a bastion of art, creativity, and progressive thinking.
This decadent dark quadrupel-style ale was created in that same spirit–brewed with dark candi sugar, dried flame grapes, and orange peel, then fermented with a French ale yeast. Pair with funky Roquefort cheese and visions of a grand tomorrow!

Reviewed from notes.
Bottle to chalice.
Appearance: dark red/mahogany color with a finger's worth of white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: some dark fruits, some Belgian candy sweetness, but also some funky to sour accents with some earthy & orange pulpiness underneath
Flavor: melds the prior noted aromas to a fair sweet to sour and funky & tart quality; finishes the same way
Texture: medium bodied; good as a sipper, some smoothness but also a good deal of dryness
Overall: I don't see this as a Belgian quad, it's something like that but also seems to have morphed into something else. Would I have this again? I think so and it would probably be a good ender to that night.

Rødbrun tåkete med beige skum. Lukter røde bær og trevirke. Middels fylde. Sur. Smaker bæreddik, trevirke og røde bær. Middels lang. Ikke helt hva jeg forventet av denne type øl

Flaska från Joacim, delad under bottleshare. Något/några år på nacken? Brunmurken med beigekrämig krona. Torkad frukt, apelsin, russin, kandisocker. Mellanstor till stor kropp. I smaken försvånansvärt syrlig för en quad. Mycket apelsin, aprikos, stenfrukt. Lite udda, men helt klart intressant.

650 ml bottle, bottled 08/28/15, shared by Erich, thanks!
Brown body, with a small, creamy, beige head.
Aroma of brown sugar, dried fruits, cocoa, caramel, toast, some soy sauce, subtle smoke.
Tastes similar, with some some more orange.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes medium roasty, medium sweet, a bit dry, a bit wooden, fruity, a bit toasty.
Very nice. Diverse, with roasty, sweet and even subtle smoke notes. The dried fruits are quite prominent, but there is a lot more going on. Not outstanding maybe, but really interesting.
