Buford’s Roadside Wares was brewed with pecans and wheat from both Texas and Arizona, inoculated with native yeast and bacteria in our coolship, and fermented in brandy barrels previously containing Jester King Reposé. The recipe was inspired by the Franco-Belgian farmhouse tradition of Bière de Garde.

Bottle shared at ZZT. Hazy dark amber with off white head. Lots of herbs, sour red berries, light dry grapes, soft sour grains, a hint of funk and spicy yeast. Medium sour and under medium bitter. Just medium bodied. Not bad!

(Tap sample @ CBC 2016 Red Session, Copenhagen) Pours a clear medium amber with a whitish head. Notes of tart fruity notes, citrus, sour pit fruit mainly, malty character of grain and some caramel, nutty toast and bitterness, medium funk, rather sour but with some balancing malty sweetness as expected in a biere de garde, finishing semi-dry with more tartness and that nutty bitterness. Light to medium bodied and a bit watery with low carb. This is okay but not great, the nuts don't make themselves felt much to help it stick out.

Bottle, shared at Northern Monk. Hazy, pale amber. Film and ring of white head. Nose has woody funk. Berry fruits. Taste is dry and woody. Some berry sweetness. A little metallic. Thin mouthfeel. Sour finish. Not a lot going on here. It’s ok.
