Poured into a mug, the appearance was a semi-dark brown color with a quarter finger’s worth of white foamy head that fell off at a moderate pace. Sliding messy lace.
The aroma had some coffee beans, light nuts and milk chocolate.
The flavor blended decently between the prior mentioned aromas and created a nice semi-smooth to roasty sort of aftertaste moderately blending into the finish.
The feel was about medium bodied, perhaps just a touch under with a lower carbonation about it, but I didn’t mind that. ABV felt fine and the smoothness was nice and somewhat creamy.
Overall, what makes this brown ale so good is that despite the level of roastiness coming across as it did, the smoothness on the feel that came about seemed to really make this beer perhaps a top 20 brown ale. At least in my book it is.

Refrigerated 12 oz. can from FlandersNed poured into a glass. Dark brown with small off-white head. Aroma is nice coffee, medium body, lower carbonation, and little carbonation. Taste is coffee, nuts, and some chocolate. This is a nice cofffee brown ale.

Can from Rick. Smoky, peaty, nutty. Body kind of comes off as thin. Wood, dirt. Brown’s not necessarily my thing.

Can sampled @ Hopishop #3. Black with no head. Nose is massive roasted coffee beans, sadly the coffee is rather herbal. Taste is massive herbal roast, faint near vegetable, roasted malts, herbal syrup. Thick coffee body. With more fresh roasted coffee taste this would have been gorgeous, decent as it is currently.

12 ounce can into pint glass, no can dating. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy dark reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big nutty dark roasted coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toast, brown bread, light chocolate/cocoa, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aroma with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, coffee, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big nutty dark roasted coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toast, brown bread, light chocolate/cocoa, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, light cocoa, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, coffee, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy/bready, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice coffee brown ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, coffee, and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Thin brown draft. Pleasant roast coffee on palate. But thin on the finish.
