12 oz can poured. Finally a North Dakota beer, and a pretty good one too. Pours a nice, dark cola black with a fizzy tan head. Chocolate, and dark fruit, roasted overall aroma. Flavor matches closely. A little coffee as well, but overpowered by the surprise dark fruit flavor here. Has a mild tartness in the late finish. Finishes also on an oaky flavor, which is nice. High carb throughout. Very nice porter. Glad I finally found one from here. Good beer. UPDATE: Tried again, side by side with the Brunch Buster. Very fun comparison there. Really solid porter here. Most of the same going on as before, though there was a nice cinnamon note this time that I don’t remember from before. Overall, remained the same solid porter.

An unclear dark reddish brown beer topped by a creamy, finger-thick beige head leaving lacings. Rather yeasty and chalky aroma with roasted malts and some chocolate. Coffee hints. The flavor is less yeasty, rather balanced, with the roasted malts winning. Some bitterness too, both of the roasted and the hoppy kind. Full body, very smooth on the palate. Quite dry too. Lasting roasted finish with coffee and a touch of dark chocolate. Except for the aroma which have a bit too much yeast, this is a fine brew. 141219
