Not bad, nothing wrong with it, just that it’s been done like this many, many times before. Aroma and flavor are similar and dominated by cocoa and a little coffee, A little bitter in the finish. Easy drinking brew.

12 ounce can into pint glass, purchased at the brewery on 11/13/2015. Pours crystal clear very dark brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toasted dark bread, light smoke/char, pepper, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate earthy/spicy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toasted dark bread, light smoke/char, pepper, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Moderate herbal/spicy hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toasted dark bread, smoke, char, pepper, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate herbal/spicy hop flavors; with a nice bitter/sweet roast and herbal/spicy hop balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from roast and hop bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice American porter style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate herbal/spicey hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
