Vestige is a saison brewed with smoked German malts and noble European hops. Formerly known as “Bowie,” this is our Schlenkerla Helles inspired farmhouse ale which incorporates a touch of beechwood smoked malt into the mash and is balanced by Saaz hops in the kettle. Blonde in color with notes of smoke, black pepper, lemon peel, and earth with a dry and refreshing finish.

Draught@TCBW2018. Hazy amber colour with a small slightly off-white head. Aroma is ham, some smoked notes, nmild yeast, sweet malts and some fruity and mild funky tones to it. Flavour is fruity, floral, some slight smoked wooden and mild funky farmyardy notes. Strange, but very refreshing.

330 ml bottle. Pale yellow pour has volumes of cascading bubbles leading to a large rocky white head. Grainy, yeasty malt aroma has subtle notes of smoke. Light biscuit malt flavor. Hints of smoke, lemon and wheatgrass. The smokiness is subtle, but just right for this delicate brew. Some light peppery bitterness in finish. Quite tasty and very unique.

Bottle. Pours a near clear straw yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a combination of straw, grass and a light sweet smoke with some flora underlying. Flavor has a smokey straw with some earthy grass and a hint of sweet flora.

Bottle under the new name Vestige from 8 Degrees Plato. Pours a clear, straw gold with a finger of spritzy carbonation that lingers. Lightly smoked malt, ham aromas with dried lemon peel, grass and light pepper as it warms up. More of the same on the palate with grainy malt, lemon, mineral and light peppery notes. The smoked notes are quite mild on the palate. Crushable with great bubbly texture on the palate.

Draught at the source: pours slightly hazy golden with white head. Aroma is hop pellets, no smoke, no real saisony funk. Taste is sort of smoky and soapy. Tastes basically OK but is a huge disappointment for Oxbow.

Aroma is quite typical to grätzer with smoke and raw bun dough. Flavour has smoky tones and raw bun dough as well among some mineral tones. Decent.
