A strong ale, brewed to the 1938 strength and using the same ingredients as the original best selling bottled beer of the Black Eagle Brewery. Made with pale and crystal malts and huge charge of Kent Goldings hops.

Yellow-cream head over hazy amber beer with a mossy sheen. Rainwater, toffee, caramel, restsugars suggested in the nose. Bitter-vegetable, underlying caramel. Light to medium bodied, feels quite carbonated. Average.

Thank you for sharing! Sampled 500 ml. bottle @ Gents Bierfestival 2016. Dark fox red, off-white bubbles. Nose is dull paper, oxidation, cardboard, stale,โฆ Taste is fizzy old paper, stale plaster, dough, insecticide, herbal, band-aid, old paper,โฆ Body is paper, stale, plaster, insecticide, fizzy,โฆ not a fan, I donโt get the appeal.

Clear reddish beer, small creamy beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: weird, something bad, overripe to rotten fruits, medlar. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: weird bitterness, some banana, pretty bitter, tannins, sugary touch. Aftertaste: overripe fruits, malty, cow fodder, unpleasant bitterness.

Bottle. Dark amber reddish beer with a great frothy head. The aroma is well hopped with a touch of roastedness. The flavour is extremely well hopped with bags of bitterness and dryness, some maltiness and roastedness as well . Overall a very nice pale ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a clear dark amber with a small creamy off-white head. Malty burnt caramel and fruitcake (brandy and fruit) aroma. Sweet malty beginning followed by burnโt brandy soaked raisins with a long mellow bitter finish. A very nice pint, I think Iโll have another.

Cask. Pours clear amber with a very small foamy head. Aroma is chocolate and toffee, with sweet malty undertones. Taste- very malt-forward, hints of milk chocolate, toffee, sugary raisins. Pretty good stuff overall.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - a lovely lava colour. A nice fluffy head. Nose - pancakes and syrup. Taste - wood and then syrup again. Bitter salad leaves. Then wood tannins return. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry woody tannic finish. Overall - gnarly but good.
