Big Bad Baptista is inspired by traditional Mexican coffee, Café de Olla, which is served with cinnamon and piloncillo, an unrefined sugar. The Cinnamon adds another layer of complexity and accentuates the earthy character of Mexican Coffee, but more importantly, it captures the essence of a place and its culture.

Bottle shared at tasting. Opaque black color, average sized off-white to light brown colored head. Aroma is malts, cinnamon, coffee, roast. Flavor is malts, roast, coffee, cinnamon lightly, sweetish notes but also some malt roast bitters. Pleasant.

2018 release. Held onto this one for a while. Big bottle from Brewcraft had at home for anniversary. Pitch black pour with tan puffy head. Aroma is rich wood, cinnamon, fruity coffee, vanilla, leather, alcohol. Taste is huge bitter coffee, dark dark chocolate, earthy cinnamon, chewy dark dried fruit leather. Palate is rich and slightly chalky. Sweet but bitterness helps it avoid cloying. Lasting warm alcohol and bitter. Like a barrel-aged Stone Xocoveza, in a way that makes it feel more refined. Very good.

Quarantine Beer #045 sampled at home from 2018 bottle on 04/08/2020. Brown-black pour with a thick beige head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patches of lace. Roast coffee, chocolate, malt and cinnamon aromas. Full-bodied with flavors of espresso, bittersweet chocolate, cinnamon, mild pepper and malt. The finish is roasty and spicy with a cinnamon mocha aftertaste. Good beer all around.

I haven’t had an Epic beer in awhile... Epic Big Bad Baptist’s 10.8% This spiced Mexican coffee stout has an increasingly soft body and exceptional balance featuring chocolate buns with molasses/brown sugar, soft spiciness and velvety coffee notes. It hides the ABV incredibly well and is super drinkable.

Pours a black colour and a brown head with a small layer retention. Aroma's: nice blend of cinnamon, coffee, roast, sweetness. Retronasal there's a bit more coffee, with cinnamon, a bit cocos, light barrel. Flavour is moderate sweet, roasted, medium dark chocolate. Medium bodied. Long finish where the adjuncts linger with light bitterness.

Bottle as the last bottle at Day 1 of Copenhagen Coconut Cinnamon Death Share. Pours pitch black with a small brown head. Aromas of coffee, milk chocolate, caramel, cinnamon, vanilla, some malty dry notes. Taste is roasty, coffee, cinnamon, bitter, malty, bready, vanilla.

On tap at Epic in Denver. Pours jet black with a dirty tan head. Aroma is fudge, coffee, chocolate, cinammon. Taste is a big rich chocolate fudge cuddle, cinammon kicks in. Bit of coconut and booze on the finish but drinks nowhere near the 11.7%. Lovely stuff
