Aromatic. Approachable. Unique. Intriguing. Happy-go-lucky. Full-bodied. And we’re not just talking about the horse.
This hop-forward session American Pale Ale uses a blend of classic and modern Pacific Northwest hops, including Mosaic, Ekuanot™ (formerly Equinox) and Glacier, for a pungent blend of peach, mango and tropical aromas. The signature ingredient - oats - are what makes Oatsmobile Ale stand apart, and gives it a body that you don’t see in most other sessionable pale ales.

12oz bottle. Bright but hazy orange body, attractive frothy head. Nice hop depth, from peachy Mosaic to bright Citra to a more bitter Amarillo. Oats give it some heft, body. Oh so sessionable, but also has some depth and character. Quality offering.

12oz bottle into a La Chouffe tulip on 24th May 2016 while on holiday in California. Light amber body, off-white blanket of foam on top. tropical fruits in the nose and taste, citrus bitterness comes later, dry finish with a citric bite: bit too dry for my palate, but a decent beer all the same.

Pour is a clean dark gold with a small white head. Aroma is surprisingly very hop forward with plenty of tropical fruit coming off the beer. Flavor is again a large hop presence but then comes a bready and dry oat to cleanse the palate. I did not know what a session pale ale with oats was going to be like but the brewer really let the hops do the talking here. I could drink a few of these in one sitting.

Bright, amber, thick head. Light floral hop character. Clipped, filtered taste leaves a touch of hop but utterly unsatisfying toasty malts. Thin, has no life. Just the ghost of hops I like.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a hazy copper color with a medium sized fluffy yellow-white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was dry and tart with cactus and lemon. The flavor was tart and dry with cactus, catbox and citric acid. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.

Bottle. Orange, oat malt, and grapefruit peel aroma. Slightly hazy golden yellow with nice long-lasting light tan head. Moderately sweet citrus, malt, and moderately bitter dry grapefruit peel flavor. Good body. A great session ale.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, bottled on 4/2/2016. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big peach, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, passion fruit, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, light honey, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/tropical/pine hops and light-moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big peach, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, passion fruit, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, light honey, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of peach, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, passion fruit, berry, lemon/orange peel, pepper, pine, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical/pine hops and light-moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitterness that increases through the glass. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, fairly sticky/resinous, and lightly grainy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.3%. Overall this is a very nice session pale ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical/pine hops and light-moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and flavorful to drink for the low ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
