Its roasted malt gives it a caramelised flavor with notes of caramel , chocolate and spices. It is characterized by a delicious balance. The robe is very dense, between burned coffee and caramel; the foam is licorice like, beige. The nose navigates between coffee, chocolate, licorice, notes that hesitate between roasted and burned. The palate is rich, round, slightly ticklish with bitterness in the end, just to mark the length.

Bottle shared with Veitafan. Pours a deep and clear reddish brown colour with a medium beige head. In the nose I sence dried fruit, wood, leather and some nice spices. The flavour is dominated by dried fruit but theres also some brown sugar, oak and raisins. Has a slick mouthfeel, and a light bitterness. This is a great and classic abbey dubbel with a nice balance.

33cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, Vika. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Malty aroma with some fruit and caramel. Hints of metal. Malty and sweet with a surprisingly dry and bitter finish. Metallic notes is annoying, but otherwise it’s quite nice. (2012-08-11)

Bottle. Pours clear brown with sediment and a tan head. Aroma is sweet caramel, dark fruits, some spice, a little aged like. Flavour is heavy sweet with a low bitterness and some noticeable alcohol, but mostly overpowered by the pleasant sweetness. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks zvikar. Brown-colored. Fruity, caramelly aroma, somewhat estery. Sweet candy-ish flavor with over-ripe fruits and caramel. Light-medium-bodied.
