12 ounce can. Found a single of this at the Wegman’s In Princeton, NJ. Orange copper pour topped by a big rocky beige head. Earthy toasted malt nose hints at toasted bread. Sweet toasted malt flavor has spicy notes of caramel and rye grain. Deliciously complex and layered. Resiny hop finish.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 10/31/2018. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep orange/copper/light reddish color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky cream colored head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/zest, wood, light peppercorn, pine, caramel, brown sugar, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, light nutty/toffee/roast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/rye/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/zest, wood, light peppercorn, pine, caramel, brown sugar, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, light nutty/toffee/roast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Lingering notes of red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, caramel, brown sugar, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/rye/bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness and rye spiciness balance; with no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/sticky, and fairly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.4%. Overall this is an awesome red rye IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/rye/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/resinous/drying finish, not aggressive. Awesome Citra/Chinook profile. Very juicy and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a great dark/rye/bready malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and impressive style example. Not overly bitter/spicy on the rye.
