Bottle, found in Albergen. Dark amber color. Candied fruit, oak, vanilla and vinous notes in the aroma. Full bodied. Malty sweet with toffee, oak, vanilla and dried fruit. Hazelnuts. Alcohol. Some grassy hops. Quite English in character. Very nice.

660ml bottle [#0748/7.300]. Hazy, dark brown colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white to beige head. Sweet-ish, malty aroma, hints of almond, marzipan, dried fruit, raisin, liquorice root, clove, old toffee, cautious woody overtones, a tart-ish, tannic touch of green wood, bitter hoppy addendum. Taste is slightly dry woody, sweet-ish malty with a minimally sugary touch, hints of caramel, marzipan, almond, toffee, some raisin, a touch of vanilla, liquorice root, treacle; smooth, soft and silky, minimally sticky palate, soft carbonation. Gains compexity while warming up (no surprise); matured well in a clear glass bottle (quite surprising). Nice sipper.

0.66 l bottle (#264) at RBBWG 2016 in Antwerpen from ’Rudat’, best before November 2017. Clear, golden amber with a frothy, stable, tan head. Sweetish-malty aroma of caramel, honey and vanilla. Sweetish-malty aroma of caramel, honey, brown sugar and vanilla, followed by a short, slightly bitter, moderately warming and minimally alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, oily mouthfeel. Nice!

Thank you for sharing Zlotta! 660 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBWG V. Clear bottle but apparently / allegedly with UV protection, odd. Pours reddish copper amber, near clear. Nose is herbal leaves, weird herbal syrup, sugar. Taste is lightly sour, oxidized oak, leaves, light butter, herbal weeds,… Low carbonation, slick plastic. Meh not much of a barley wine for me more like a bad old syrupy bock of some sort, meh.It is a bit interesting +0.1 for that but still not crazy about this one.

Sampled from bottle @ Ratebeer Belgian Winter Gathering 2016. Lightly unclear amber-ish color, small off-white head. Smell and taste malts, sweetness, lightly floral, lightly blossomy. Decent body and medium carbonation.

Trocken röstiger Beginn, in dem die Süße nur erst einmal nur in der Nase liegt. Leicht alkoholisch, mild herb, erstaunlich gut trinkbar. Für einen deutschen Barley Wine sehr gut. 9/9/8/9/10/10
