A complex and unusual sour gruit with a hint of brett funk. Huge herbal notes from big dry additions of mugwort, yarrow and nettles. Finishes with a delicate bitterness. An ale from hundreds of years ago.

Cask tasting glass @ In De Wildeman during Carnivale Brettanomyces 2016! Waiter was hyping this beer, unfortuely this one really didn’t go well with my preferences, maybe he was trying to get rid of it? Hazy citrus golden, no head. Nose is old stale NL cheese, sugar, some fermenting fish & pickle watter. Taste is sour puckering pickle water, sour fish, grain, vegetable, sour fish, grain, ferment NL cheese, vegetable. Huge, huge flat pickle juice, too much, bloody too much for me. Too weird, is it even supposed to be like this?

Cask gravity at the open day at the brewery. A hazed dull golden coloured pour with no head. Aroma is an interesting blend of spicy sour, woody ginger, nettle, little veg. Flavour is composed of tart woody ginger, zesty tart lemon, pale grains, hint of mint, tangy, galingale. Palate is tart and tangy, moderate cask condition, hint of sweet and sour. A unique beer. I really like the blend of spices.
