Dark golden with a small white head - Sweet vanilla and wood aroma - Malt body with a sweet vanilla and wood flavour - The vanilla and wood flavours gooes into the finish - This was nice

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, nettbutikken. ABV is 6.5%. Deep golden to copper colour, moderate white (or slightly off-white) head. Moderate aroma of malts, whisky, oak and vanilla. Medium sweet flavour of malts, caramel, toffee, fudge, whisky, oak, raisins and vanilla, some very moderate hops in the finish.

Bottle. Ruby brown with a medium head. Aroma of wood malt. Flavour is whiskey fruit, wood, vanilla warm fruit finish.

Clear amber beer, thick white head. Smell is citrus and malt. Tastes of citrus and sweet, sugary fruit. Aftertaste has a hint of the oak-aging but there's not nearly enough to make this anything other than a bang-average, slightly too sweet blonde ale. Chilled properly and it's drinkable enough.

Aroma is kind of odd. While there was still a little bit of the short-lived head left I picked up a bit of sourness. But then when most of the head was gone all I could get was oaked, sweet caramel malt. Then when I went to take a sip I picked up some sourness again in the aroma. Flavor did have some hints of tartness, what was dominated by caramel sweet with notes of whiskey. Okay body. Ditto finish.

S'il y a un point à retenir de cette bière, ce sont bien les arômes maltés de malt à whisky et de chêne qui la composent et qui sont plutôt intéressant. Cependant au débit, la liste est un peu plus longue : texture trop liquide, première partie de dégustation peu intense, complexité pas assez développée et pour ma part, une bière que j'ai trouvé écœurante sur la fin. En verre, je trouve que cela manque de mousse. L'effervescence est peu poussée il faut dire. Par contre très joli ambré parfaitement limpide (EBC aux alentours de 26). Nez titille l'intérêt, d'emblée sur le fut de chêne, le malt à whisky, le caramel et une pointe orangée. Mais à la dégustation, l'attaque est insignifiante, fraîche mais peu aromatique. On arrive cependant à retrouver les arômes présents au nez. La deuxième bouche voit les arômes s'affirmer légèrement mais sans plus. A ce niveau, l'arrière bouche est quasi-absente. Et ce n'est qu'à partir de la troisième bouche que le arômes vont commencer à se développer et monter en intensité pour en fin de compte bien prendre tout le palais avec un final relativement long, bien enlevé, à la fois rond et sous tension. La transition est assez déroutante. L'amertume avec un IBU de 25 est bien dosé. Houblon challenger et Goldings qui respectent les arômes de whisky et de chêne, mais qui de fait n'enrichissent pas plus en avant la bière. Bière en deux temps, peut mieux faire.
