Bottle from Dunham brewery courtesy of my Mom. It is a deep copper verging on amber with a thick fluffy beige head nd thick creamy lacing. This bottle is about 3 months old now so some of the hops seem to have dropped out. Pine bark, nutty, light malty caramel. It is medium-full bodied with a rough carbonation. The taste is earthy, bitter, pine, sweat socks, etc. Not doing it for me but as noted it is an old bottle... Wow I didn’t get the guava purée or tea at all. After hearing about it I can taste the guava in the finish, solid enough but I need to taste it fresh.

(341mL bottle from Depanneur Peluso) Pours really murky deep brownish gold, fine white head, little lace. Aroma sweet, caramel malt with guava, muddled tropical fruit and orange, a floral and slightly spicy impression that must be the earl grey, with just a hint of bergamot (hard to pick out without looking!). On the palate the caramel is much lighter, less sweet. Brusque citrus oils at first (hops, bergamot, both?) giving way to more guava flesh in the middle and then back to a tannic, astringent finish. It is interesting how much the finish, in particular, is tea-like in character and flavor. I think the hop profile is well-matched to the guava and tea additions, though it may also be somewhat muted compared to freshly bottled. The finish is extremely dry but the bitterness restrained. Mouthfeel medium-full, carb soft, slightly oily. Clings to the roof of the mouth. The additions certainly don’t beat you over the head, but do a decent job complementing what’s a good IPA to begin with. I feel like it might have been a bit punchier fresh/on draught but definitely would get again.

Cloudy tan with a dense rocky head. Aroma has orange, florals, lemonbalm, and some malts. Fruity, light phenols, hop bitterness and lots of tannins. Long tannic finish...tea is strong but w the bergamot it makes a lot of sense.

Bottle from the Brasserie. Pours a hazy orange-amber with a fluffy beige head that leaves great lace. Nose is tea and tropical fruits. Take some time to savour this as the nose and flavour become more pronounced as the glass warms. The tea adds an interesting astringent note and the overall balance is excellent without the guava bringing too much sweetness. A medium oily body with average carbonation and a long finish. This is one that i could drink on a regular basis.

4oz pour at Churchkey’s Bells event during DC Beer Week 2013. Poured a hazy orange color with a small white head. Aroma was light bitter hop notes, also distinct tea and spice notes. Flavor was bitter hops, plenty of notes of earl grey tea. Interesting.

4oz pour at Churchkey’s Bells event during DC Beer Week 2013. Pours a hazy orange with some lacing, white head. Nose has a ton of tea, chamomile, orange, lemon. Very tannic in the mouth, lemon, orange, some spice, light fruit. Tannic, spicy finish. Interesting.
