28 April 2018, at Domus, Leuven. Shared with Anke.
Pours hazy amber with a lasting, foamy, tan head; little lacing. The aroma contains caramel, bready malt, biscuit, red apple, peach, candi sugar. It tastes light roasted bitter and light to medium malty sweet, dough accents, bit spicy & yeasty. Dry, hoppy, bit spicy finish, slightly metallic. Light to medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Very drinkable, but almost forgettable.

On tap at Domus. Hazy amber with a lasting white head. Aroma of malt and sulphur (hard boiled egg variety). Dry grainy flavour with strong sulphur and a touch of husk-like tannin.

Sampled draft @ brewpub. Descriped as an amber pilsner by the server. Light amber, creamy off-white head. Nose is like caramel extract, plain dull caramel, thin with light spices,… Taste is metallic with cooked apple, reminiscent of caramel extracts, light spices,… Thin, metallic, boring, bland. Meh.

Only available at Domus, seemingly a session amber (spéciale belge) with clear amber colour and thin off-white head; caramel malt aroma, floral and somewhat spicy hops, dried fruits but low ’esteriness’; malty taste, nutty, dried fruits, dryish, soft aromatic hoppy finish. This is way too ’clean’ and straightforwardly malty to be a true amber ale: as the brewery has indeed acknowledged before, this is actually an amber-coloured lager in the Märzen style!
