The pour produces a gorgeous deep amber body that approaches garnet in color with a minimal white head. Alcohol and dried fruits come quickly to the nose along with dark caramel. The flavor is sweet, alcoholic, reminiscent of an English Barleywine. Smooth and warming.

Bomber from Oak Tree. Pours hazy dark ruddy amber with no real head. Aromas of brown sugar, dark fruit, a little hop, and arguably vanilla and oak. Med plus body. It starts sweet, moves towards dark fruit, shifts to oaky astringency. The finish is fairly dry and oaky, though the sugar sort of hangs around. Pretty good stuff.

On tap at Brouwer's Cafe, pours dark hazy orange with a beige head. Aroma of candied sugar and caramel malts. Flavour is very sweet, with candied sugar, burnt caramel, with a little hop bite at the end - cloyingly sweet, but it's well-made still.

Small yellow dense head over dark amber-red beer, well-carbonated. Very vinous nose, biscuit, brandy, sweet molasses, mushrooms or even truffle, and then a good dose of American hops. Superbly balanced combination. Rather cheesy flavour, again very vinous, alcoholic and faint higher alcohols, esters, and a raw eggyolk flavour. Slick, alcoholic MF, but slightly empty palate, highly carbonated. Very balanced ’big’ beer, very complex, but slightly less rewarding in the palate - pity. Many thanks to fonefan and C.!

Bottled@O’Haras. Reddish amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is fruits, alcohol, mild chocolate, some strong dry hops. Flavour is quite much the same. Quite crappy to be honest.

A dark orange amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, wonderful barrel aged barley wine with caramel, treacle, intense butter and wine, alcohol. In mouth, a great barley wine with smooth caramel, floral hops, super warming alcohol. a bit simple but effective. Tasted at CNY brewfest, Feb. 6 2010.

(Bottle at Pikkulintu) Poured with red wine colour and almos clear. Didn’t form any head. Aroma contained malts, raisin, hint of vanilla, oat porridge and alcohol. Palate was medium bodied, stinging and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, mildly raisin, molasses, wood, mildly saltiness and mild bitterness. Aftertaste contained bitterness and wood.
