Taste the magic.

330 ml. bottle sampled. I don’t see a BBF. Sparkling light hazy amber, small but firm white head. Nose is typical alcohol, grains, very big esters, dominant metallic quality, somewhat chemical, metallic candy sugar. Taste is strongly phenolic, metallic, grains, overly boozy, spices, somewhat spelt-like, light lingering rubber taste,… Overly metallic & phenolic. Oddly industrial tasting. Clean, metallic, sparkling, industrial body. I can see this appealing to some people but it isn’t for me. Another new contract brewery but I don’t feel like this adds anything new to the market. I can see some people liking this.

Bottle @ home. Clear orange color, medium sized white head. Aroma is malts, sweet, slightly floral. Taste malts, sweetish, again lightly floral, blossom, floral hops in the background, some sugar and a hint of yeast. Decent body, a bit firm carbonation. Not bad, but I don’t get why this is classified as a Belgian Ale instead of an Abbey Tripel just like the label says. That said, it’s nothing like a Tripel, so I guess that’s why..

Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais. Hazy amber colour lasting beige head. malt esters sweetness on the aroma. Pretty much a standard Belgian strong ale in the mouth. Bit over carbonated. As I say a standard not very interesting sweet malty Belgian ale.

11/X/14 - 33cl bottle from Dranken Pauwels (Heule) @ BLES Bierfestival (Zottegem) - BB: 23/VII/16 (2014-1202) Thanks to the kind people at Pauwels for letting me have this bottle!

Little cloudy deep blond to orange beer, big creamy white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet, bit sugary, quite some banana, dairy touch, bit spicy. MF: ok carbon, medium body, smooth texture. Taste: pretty sweet, sugary, banana, slightly bitter. Aftertaste: bit chemical, citrus, sweet, overripe banana, somewhat metallic.
