Dry hopped with whole leaf hops from the Yakima Valley, combined with Maris Otter English barley, which is floor-malted in age old tradition. A long maturation ensures plenty of flavour, with strong aromatics of grapefruit, tangerine and mango.

Draught @ St. Augustine’s, Vancouver, BC

Pours dark amber orange with a smooth head. Aroma of wet fruity hops, sweet syrupy malts and caramel. Taste is malty, sweet and wet hoppy with loads of fruits, syrup, caramel and toffee. Finish is bitter, hoppy and syrupy. Quite malty and hoppy, but slightly unbalanced.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Clear, light copper brown with full light beige head. Aroma very citrusy hops, pineapple, and caramel malt. Taste much the same. The citrus elements really come out, but not in a sweet way. Medium body.

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy amber/orangey color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of citrus hops with quite of bit of residual sugars. Taste is also a good mix between some citrus hops with light piney notes and some residual sugars with a solid malt backbone and some toffee notes. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Nice hops-heavy IIPA thought a bit too much residual sugar in the background for my taste.

Single bottle from the LCBO, under "Imperial IPA for Autism" at 9% ABV. giving $5 per bottle to autism research. Pours a clean deep amber colour with a frothy-creamy, light beige head, with good retention and soapy lacing. Definitely smells like an IPA with the hops (grapefruits, pine), but is also Imperial with the sweet caramel malts and mild alcohol. The mouthfeel is pretty smooth though, with just a slight warming, but no burning. A nicely balanced taste between the grassy-citrusy hops and some mild roasted malts. A beautiful bitterness that is not too dry, making this one very easy to drink. Quite a nice blended Impy IPA and well-worth the price to support a good cause.

Autism Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a hazy deep amber with modest beige head that leaves a nice lace. Nose is heavy floral pine. Grapefruit at the start moves quickly to a lingering bitterness. Medium oily body with average carbonation. I’d prefer some more maltiness to balance this out.

Bottle - Blast of crazy grapefruit and pine, definately let’s you know what you are in for. Crystal clear amber with a minimal but lingering head. Immediate hit of hops and bitterness, overwhelming pine which unbalances this beer to distraction. There is some sweetness but again just not enough to counterbalance the hops effectively. Draft - For autism version - Sweet crazy grapefruit. Sweet and a bit of pith, sweetness to balance. Better than the bottle, but still not as complex in flavours as I like. Mild bump in score.
