"Can you fill these empty barrels with something fun?" That was the challenge Kjetil presented me with over a coffee a stormy Tuesday morning in October."How about something strong and dark?" I wondered. "25% dark malts, 30% rye, 28 degres Plato."That’ll never work." said Kjetil. 1 kilo malts/L, 48 hours of brewing and 2 years on old Armanac barrels later, I feel free to say: "Well, wouldn’t you know... it worked".

Bottle at home. Now about five years old. Has a pitch black colour with no head. Aroma of liqueur, oak, burnes wood, licorice, dried fruit, chocolate truffles, brown sugar rubber and port. Heavy flavour with lots of liqueur and rum at first with addition of brown sugar, licorice and some rubber. Ends roasted with coffee beans and ash. Lasting warming alcohol. Has a oily mouth feel, full-bodied and light bitterness. Incredibly complex, multi-layered and rich ale.

Black with a dark brown head - DArk malt aroma with wood and spirits - Dark malt body with roasted tones with some notes of chocolate and coffee and some good wood and spirits flavour and some nice alcohol heat in the back - The dark malt, wood and alcohol heat goes into the finish with hints of chocolate and coffee - This was real good

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus and Joes. Opaque pitch black color, average sized dark brown head. Aroma is malts, sweetish, a bit in between cognac and sherry, but that aroma is quite firm. Taste malts, roast, definitely some liquor, quite nicely bitter in the finish. Medium body and carbonation. Heavy but nice.

33 cl bottle @ home. Batch #882: brewed 05.11.2012, BBE 05.11.2027
Aroma has rubber, some spices, licorice and soy sauce. Flavour has spices, cardamom, cinnamon, licorice and mild alcohol tones. Quite interesting; I thought this would be another booze-IS but I actually like the cinnamon here. Like a liquid gingerbread cookie.

330ml bottle. Batch 882, brygget 05.11.12, best før 05.11.27. Pours dark brown, almost black with a small head. Aroma of dark vinous berries, syrup, wood, sweet oak, dark chocolate and roastiness. Taste is sweet and complex with some dark vinous berries, hints of tartness, spices, wood, roasty malts, anise and loads of syrup. Finish is sweet, sticky and syrupy with loads of berries, some roastiness, anise and spices. Quite untypical and a bit weird even. Slightly too boozy though.

Bouteille 50cl, batch#882, BB 05/11/2027.
