Bottled. Pretty much black colour with a small beigeish brown head. Aroma is toffee, some fruity tones with dried fruits, liquorice, alcohol, chocolate and some syrupy tones. Flavour is liquorice, some nutty elements with mild roast, toffee, chocolate, syrup, alcohol and some slight espresso coffee tones too.

Both batches side by side. For a decade old beer, this has held up well. Liquorice, spice, dry roast notes.

Sample. VERY mature flavour profile. I like it! Definitely a sipper. Thank you Johan F.!

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, small, creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, dark brown head. Sweet-ish, chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of caramel, Belgian chocolate, spicy hints of liquorice and marmite, a touch of aniseed. Taste is spicy, roasty dark malty, slightly chocolately, notes of aniseed, hints of tarragon, a touch of caraway, an initial chili-like peppery touch finds no confirmation but rather trails away than - what should be typical - accumulate intensity; oily to viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally sticky palate, soft carbonation.

Thick and intense malty beginning. The used herbs are there, nice fitting into the picture of the dry intense roasted chocolaty malts. Long intense deep body, rich and creamy with thick deep rich chocolate and roasted dry caramel. Intense and deep, dense creamy and chocolaty with a dry body. Fantastic.

Bottle at home, 6th October 17. Pours black as night. Aroma is liquorice, dark malts, liquor, strong. Taste is unusual, perhaps the Armanac dimension, liquorice, leather, coffee, rich, delicious muck.

BOTTLE 33 CL shared. Inky black, small dark espresso head. Huge inky dark nose, rubber, spicy tobacco, leather. Surprisingly dry taste, soy sauce, rich tough never cloying, but neither has the rich impy character. Big, bad, but not really that fine.

0.33 l bottle from ’Rudat’, brewed in November 2012, best before November 2027. Pitch black with a thin, slowly diminishing, dark brown layer. Sweetish-malty, moderately roasty and minimally boozy aroma of praline, vanilla, hazelnut, mocca and probably Armagnac. Sweet, malty, quite roasty and boozy taste of praline, mocca, cocoa, quite a bit of Armagnac and some hazelnut as well as vanilla and dark fruits, followed by a long, very boozy, rather roasty-bitter finish. Full body, creamy to oily mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Really tasty, moreish and saturating brew, quite intense, nice sipper for sure, just a bit out of balance with massive barrel notes. Definitely worth trying though!
