9/12/11/12/12/12

Obtained in a trade with digita7693. Split with Beerlover_Ben.BBF 10.12.2029. Presumably bottled on 10.12.2014. Black, mocha bubbles. Nose is thick sweet brambleberry, soy sauce, umami, thick liquorish, sweet, thick syrupy, ripe thick dark fruits, only maybe a small inking of smoke. Taste is thick soy sauce, brambleberry, sweet syrup, thick liquorish, lightly warming, umami note which could be mistaken for light smoke, black coffee, feel of age to it,… These flavours which could have been obtained without a barrel & honestly I am not really getting any barrel here, def. not Islay. Thick, slick body, feels like an aged RIS, lower carbonation. Good but def. not top, feels a bit too smoothened out with a touch too much umami, liquorish,… & real lack of barrel character. Still not bad, drinks decently.

Bottle @ Van Moll Brewpub shared by Erwin Van Moll. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized brown head, a bit creamy, quite long lasting and it leaves good lacing. Aroma is malts, overripe fruits lightly, raisins, dark fruits, a little sweetish hint. Taste malts, again overripe fruits, dark fruit, earthy, metallic, moderately bitter, liquorice, not a lot of Islay Whiskey imo. Medium to full body and carbonation.
