Spiciness from the rye and a subtle smokiness from German beech smoked malt, produce a beer that can only be described as savoury. When you're in that mood that calls for something different, but you can't quite put your finger on it, this is that beer.

Pours amber from the can. The frothy white head makes a quick exit. Aroma is woodsmoke, a touch floral. Taste is mildly sweet with a mild citric tartness that grows stronger at the finish. Hints of smoke, honey and aloe vera throughout. Body is light, carbonation is mild. A bit oily. Overall, the pleasures here are subtle but still enticing. Nice!

330ml can. Cloudy amber colour with small, creamy, half-way lasting, minimalyl lacing, off-white to beige head. Mildly smoky aroma, hints of ham, beechwood. Taste is fruity hoppy, mildly smoky, slightly malty spicy, hints of grilled peach, a touch of ham, beechwood, rye spiciness; light and rather watery.

Cask-conditioned at the Gryphon, Bristol 27/2/2017. Deep amber in colour, with a moderately-sized, off-white, head. Light beechwood smoke, sweetish tangerine and berry fruits and crisp malts, leading to a smoky finish. Subtle and good.

Hazy golden color. Very big smoked nose with smoked gouda, and modest rye notes in the background. The mouth feel is so-so, with decent rye character and good smokiness. Not too smokey. Not bad.

Cask at CBC, Covent Garden on 28th August 2016. Hazy gold/amber with thin off white foam. Intensely smoky aroma. Arich and intense smokiness in-mouth with hint of chorizo. A fine bitterness and lasting smoke in the finish. Zingy mouthfeel and a fair amount of body. Exquisite!

Hazy yellow color, small steady white head. Smokey, fruity aroma. Light-bodied. Pale malty, light citrusy, fruityness. Bamberg smoked malts dominate here nicely. Combination works ok.
