Clear brown beer, decent bubbly pale tan head that doesn't hang around for very long. Palate is smooth and unbelievably light for the massive abv, just a very light viscosity on the swallow. A pretty reasonable superfine carbonation. The malts are smooth with a nice rich dark toffee. The dominant flavour is bourbon, loud and proud. There is a modest woody bitterness underneath. Rich fruity bourbon goes well with a little malt cream. Plenty of spice on the back end. Warming spicy and slightly bitter bourbon linger. After 8 years there is no detectable oxidisation here. If you are still holding one of these, I reckon you are safe to leave it for another 3 or 4 years easy. Super drinkable for a beer just under 20%

Taster at share, and second, and third. Big, slick, sweet notes from this booze bomb. Also held up quite well (2014 vintage). Black, oil slick pour, light bublby head dissipates. Sweet aroma and taste, molasses, prunes. Exceptionaly smooth despite the off the charts ABV. Truly awesome.

Bottled July 17th 2014.
It pours what looks to be a clear mahogany with a small and quickly disappearing head of off white foam. The ring around the glass is all I see now but there's some struggling lacing.
Brown sugar, molasses, dark pitted fruits, vanilla, oak, Bourbon aromas permeate my nose buds. The smell wouldn't be complete without mentioning the booze. It's there in spades.
Brown sugar, Bourbon, dark pitted fruit, figs, very sweet overall but not to the point of being cloying, at least to me. Wonderful flavours, lots of heat, oxidation is making its presence known. A few more years and how would it evolve? A super strong Thomas Hardy? JW Lees? I'll never know as this is my only bottle and I have held it in my cellar for +1 year.
As big a beer as this is, I don't reckon that the body is full. Carbonation is low and who the hell would want it to be lively??
I didn't buy this locally, I had to buy it online with several other Avery BA beers. No regrets.
I had this in November 2018.

12 oz. bottle, shared with Albert. Pours dark brown, with a small, tan head. The aroma is molasses, creme de cocoa, light tobacco, rye whiskey, and walnuts. Very sweet and boozy. Heavy body, with a thick, grainy, and syrupy body. This is a fun, very flavorful, complex, and decadent beer. Quite alcohol forward, though.

Bottle, 355 ml, courtesy of BeerandBlues2. Huge thanks for this one! Shared with JFK10000 and Max. Dark brown, small beige head. Nuts, dried fruit, raisins, figs, caramel, malty, bit spicy. Sweet. Quite warming, but alcohol is not aggressive. Complex. Full bodied. Quad meets barley wine - very nice.

Bottle with ajax25g, pleasure! Clear amber brown, tan edge head. Aroma of brandied candied butterscotch. Taste is rich, sweet vanilla and spiced creme brulee. Very tasty.
