Named to commemorate the La Salle Hotel, once a Seattle bawdy house and the original home of the Pike Brewing Company. Old Bawdy is a vintage-dated, high-gravity beer brewed with peated Scotch malt. It has a deep golden bronze color, a fruity rich taste, and an aggressive and dominating hop character with smoky undertones that are reminiscent of Scotch whiskey.

Hazy orange with a tiny beige head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel, fruits and hoppy notes. Flavour was malty and had loads og hops, pine and grapefruits. Finished bitter. Not bad.

Hazy amber color. It’s a rather simple Barley Wine, actually more as a Strong American Ale; there is surely caramel flavor, but by far not enough body and sweetness and malt; reasonable hopping. Anyway, a good brew.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of MaltOMeal. Pours a hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma of fruit and vitamin C. Medium body, a little low in carbonation, overripe fruit and sweet caramel. Hardly any bitterness. Not the most exciting Barley Wine. 220909

2007 bottle. Pours a chill-hazed mahogany into a snifter. Mocha head with excellent retention leaves spider lacing as it slowly recedes. Dark smoked caramel aromas. Thick and creamy with upfront dark caramel and toffee. Lasting burnt resin finish.

Bright amber with small white head. Aroma of flowers, hops, malt. Nice bitter flavor throughout, especially apparent in the finish. Like an IPA but darker and more mellow. A winner.

2007 Bottle. Pours an ultra thick viscousness, with a very tight, creamy, light brown head that leaves good lacing. Hazy amber body with a few particles floating. Decent retention. Aroma is room filling, sticky-sweet caramel, pine and pitted fruits. Taste is a bit toasty upfront, strong alcohol, piney, caramel and very sticky overall. Some berries, smoke and a bitter more bitterness as it warms. Mouthfeel is super syrupy, and again, sticky, nearly chewy mouthfeel... like maple syrup. Very warming. Nearly to sticky and warming to be enjoyable...nearly. 12oz might be better than the 22oz bomber I had.
