Woody, herbal chocolate malt and weedy grass aroma. Dark brown with small head. Moderately sweet herbal chocolate malt and mildly bitter grass flavor. Good body.

Bottle. Clear dark brown/mahagony sporting a small beige head. Aroma of malts, caramel and metal. Taste of malts, dried fruits and caramel with herbal notes and hints of liquorice. Moderate bitterness. Medium carbonation. Süffig but fails at meeting the style. It’s a bad stout but would make for an ok Dunkel.

Dirty brown with a creamy head that lingers. Rather unfortunate aroma that smells something like an old shoe. Even after 5 minutes in the glass it never really improved. Taste is, thankfully, much better. Mildly bitter with milk chocolate undertones. Medium bodied, mild carbonation. Nice chewiness. Flawed but drinkable.

Stark getreidiger, erst in zweiter Linie röstiger Antrunk. Karamell, Kuhstall, moderat herb. Der für das Kuhstall-Aroma verantwortliche nasse Hopfen wirkt fehlerhaft und zerkocht, muffig. Nicht gut... 8/6/5/5/8/5

Many thanks to kevnic2008 for sharing! Fresh and smooth, but very dry. No bitterness, fruity-fresh. Round and smooth but not too round, fruity malty roasted without any bitterness. Strange...

Pours a brown color with khaki colored head. Caramel, lots of it on the nose, with just a little roast and cocoa; follows onto the palate.

Trübe rötlichbraune Farbe, ordentliche beige Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, viel Karamell, reife Früchte. Geschmack röstmalzig, viel Karamell, Vanille, gering floral und wenig würzig.

Thanks to bartlebier! Who generously traded this for one token @ BBF 2014. 330 ml. green swing-top bottle enjoyed on the train post-BBF 2014. Also I have never seen so many people drink on a trains as I did then. The couple across me brought a plastic bag containing about 14 Heineken Jillz’s & proceeded to drink them all together in 30 min. or so. A big group of rowdy Americans spend that trip drinking one after another bottle of BAB Mystère. On the next stop these people were joined by several people sharing bottles of hard liquor. I must have finally taken found & taken that train to Alcoholism city. Anyway……………… BBF 04.05.2015. Red fruits dark brown, huge mocha head. Nose is light iron, cheap chocolate truffles, chocolate, mocha,… Lightly herbal taste, vending machine coffee, lightly metal, chocolate syrup malts, basic sweetness, light herbal bitterness in the finish. Body is a touch fizzy, somewhat thin. Decent & rather enjoyable all the same. I quite liked it. Nice beer, just don’t compare it to American stouts.

Bottle @ Van Moll Brewpub. Medium to dark red - brown color, average to medium sized beige head. Smell malts, a little musty, brown or dark malts. Taste malts, dark malts, bitter, something weird. Average body and carbonation. Aroma gets worse and after after while it really smells bad. No, ’black forest stout’ is not a very good ’porter’ imo.
