Belle quadruple belge.

I have this 33 cl, pagoda-shaped bottle of Gulden Spoor Quadrupel that was delivered by Belgian Happiness. Pleased to get it, of course. The label indicates an abv of 10%, need to point that out. I like to serve my Belgian beers fairly cool and let them warm up with the tasting, no different this time. The Buffalo Bayou snifter is arrayed for this event, I detect an opaque, copper colored body topped with a consistent thin skim of of tawny brown foam. An enticing scent coming up out of the glass, dark fruit, raisins, grain and toffee. So on to the drink, I get fruit cake, some woodiness, pecans, syrup, dates and caramel. I am only missing some heft in the sensation, otherwise a good tasting.

Bottle from FinestBelgianBeers Pours a hazy mahogany colour with a tint of orange and a very thin beige head. Aromas of dry dark fruits, stone fruits, marzipan, butterscotch, rum and spices. Taste is more of the same notes as in the aroma. Very low carbonation, medium to full bodied with a slick oily mouthfeel. Alcohol is quite well hidden for 10% ABV. A ripe fruity acidic aftertaste that lingers on the palate is fairly pleasant. Not too bitter or too sweet it is well balanced. A bit unusual for a quad but all in all it’s quite nice.

Really nice beer, has all the belgian notes I like, it is very strong with some alcohol bite to it. Bottle is one year old. It does taste a little less lively than I would like, but I’m not sure it’s oxidized. online belgian beer factory

Bottle from Dranken Vandewoude and drunk at home. Clear deep russet colour no head. Some esters on the aroma sweet malt in the mouth over carbonated and harsh in the mouth. Malty beer. A little pepper. The harsh carbonation doesnt help makes it taste harsh and acidic but the malt fruit is quite attractive.
