Men førsteinntrykket går fort over i ufriskhet. Denne må nytes raskt og i god avkjølt tilstand, altså en kjapp aperitiff. Ingen armagnacaroma, men jeg kan med velvilje ane et hint av nevnte brennevin helt i slutten.

Shared bottle at local tasting. Orange to cognac colour, large head, slightly off-white. Weird aroma of stale and rotting berries, some oak in the background. Stale berries (esp. raspberries), oak and armagnac in the flavour, warming mouthfeel. The alcohol is not well hidden. Disappointing.

Dark golden. Off-white head. Red currants and raspberries with blue cheese. Same berries in satisfying taste. Refreshing, with scaringly high drinkability. Fresh berries in aftertaste. Dry, with lively carbonation.

Luxury barley wine matured on armagnac bottles, since 2011. Yellowish beige head, relatively stable seen the alcohol strength, colour a lightly hazy orange blonde. Complexely perfumed, warming aroma of obviously armagnac, peaches, honey, rosewater, orange, raspberry, tannins. Complex fruity, sweetish taste, resinous, quite strong carbo for a Belgian-style barley wine (or any barley wine), smooth with some yeasty spicy notes, brandy-like, woody and warming in the finish. Pleasantly surprised that Binchoise is capable of making such rich ales, though I have a feeling it is not worth the relatively high price - which is probably a result of the special bottle as well.

Bottle shared at tasting. Canät remember who brought this... Pours hazy reddish golden with a small frothy offwhite head that quickly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is sweet with biscuits, sweet dark bread, honey, hay, lemon zest, hazelnuts and sweet soy sauce. Taste is very sweet and tiny bitter with toasted malts, sweet dark bread, moist mushrooms, biscuits, honey, sweet soy sauce, moist wood, compost, lemon zest and bitter almond. Mouthfeel is soft, sticky sweet and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and tiny bitter with biscuits, moist mushrooms, mold, compost, honey, hazelnuts and sweet dark bread. Disgusting mushroom character...

Bottle, thanks to Andy Snow, split at Colin and the Vikings tasting, Nol, Goteborg, Sweden 22/03/14. Hazed orange golden with moderate off white spotting. Nose is light booze, dark fruits, spice, dates, bitter orange, woody twang. Taste comprises caramel, spice, ripe citric fruit, dates, prunes, figs, tobacco. Full bodied, fine carbonation, sweet licks and subtle booze in the close. Decent enough offering, good balance and well integrated alcohol.

Bottle at the "Colin and the Vikings tasting, Goteborg". Poured a hazy medium amber with a thin white head. The aroma is yeast, malt. The flavour is medium sweet light bitter with a smooth light watery fruit yeast palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation. Not sure where the alcohol was. It certainly wasn’t evident. Nice bottle :-)

Bottle 750ml @ Geokkjer
Pours hazy deep golden with a small off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, alcohol, wood, acetone, sulfur, caramel and dried fruits. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with and long warm, fruity and caramel finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
