Boozy and sweet, with just a bit of tequila. Good thing, so easy a spirit to overdo. Pretty well balanced, very smooth and typically Belgian. Maybe a bit too muddled together after those years, but does not feel very old besides that.

Bottle. Bottledog, King’s Cross. Shared with the missus on her 45th birthday. Hazy, dark chestnut brown. Bubbly, lasting, tan head. Nose has chocolate truffle. Booze soaked vine fruits. Dark chocolate malts. Woody, vinous tang. Impy stout vibe, for me. Taste is stunning. Sweet, and roast chocolate malt bitter, in absolutely perfect balance. Delicious, vine fruit tang. Smooth and unctuous, but incredibly drinkable. Finishes with a fruity, chocolate sweetness that never gets too much, because it’s held back by that tequila barrel tang. Lovely beer.
