Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance has a hazy orange/amber body that leaves a half finger foamy white head appears that lasts for a good two minutes before dieing. No carbonation is seen rising nor any lacing was left
The smell has some clove, banana, combined decently with some citrus and floral tones. Hops are pretty subdued.
The taste has a dominating clove with fairly strong banana, citrus and floral tones are less defined. The alcohol is very hidden.
The palate is about medium bodied and well balanced - not too watery, but not too heavy, just right. It has a dry finish. I would say this is fairly drinkable.
Overall, this isn’t a bad brew, just one I feel like I need to get to know better.

A slightly hazy medium golden brew with about an inch of foam.

It’s a hoppy fruity yeasty smell that I get. I also sense some candi sugar sweetness.

Dry hoppy goodness with Belgian yeasty fruitiness, the label, she does not lie. A bit strong with the alcohol presence but manageable. Nice sipping brew that has a nice balance between the 2 attributes I mentioned.

Very nice mouthfeel adds to my admiration of Le Freak. I’m enjoying it.

Bottle, Wordens Market. Bold chestnut copper color with a massive beige head… takes forever to come down. Lots of sheet lacing. Mild nose is floral and yeast. Somewhat dusty, but not dry. The taste is more Belgian Tripel than IPA; good yeast flavors, faint esters, and dusty barnyard. Mild floral hops. Drinks really smooth and just about perfectly carbonated for my liking. I had expected something big, bold, and brash… this is smooth and refined. Nice combo of the styles.

More of a double IPA than a Belgian. Pours a golden amber, with a couple of inches of thick, foamy head. Aroma is floral and grassy. Flavor is a peppery blend of citrus and hops, with an astringent finish. Interesting, but not my favorite.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but should be pretty fresh. Pours lightly cloudy golden amber color with a 2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, orange zest, orange rind, tangerine, banana, clove, pepper, floral, grass, pine, candi sugar, bread, bubblegum, and yeast earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great complexity and balance of hop and yeast ester notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, orange zest, orange rind, banana, bubblegum, clove, pepper, floral, grass, pine, candi sugar, bread, and floral/yeast earthiness. Fair amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, banana, clove, pepper, bubblegum, candi sugar, bread, floral, pine, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity and balance of hop and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; with a fair amount of malt balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a lightly slick and crisp mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic Belgian IPA. All around awesome complexity and balance of hop and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Poured a hazy amber color with a medium sized slightly off-white head. Aroma is packed with a lot of hoppy citrus notes, some floral and Belgian spice notes. Flavor is sweet candi sugar notes, spices, and citrus hops. A touch boozy.

Pours bubbly, cloudy apricot gold with a whipped, off-white head. Very faint, yeasty, fruity scent. Taste is an exact mix of typical Belgian fruity/yeasty with a pney, herbal hop a la’ IPA...peppery, a little alcohol bittering. This works pretty well, I must say.

Bomber shared at Brewdog Edinburgh, at the point in the evening where things started to go a bit hazy... I remember the yeastiness on the nose, the golden orange pour, the tripel meets IPA tasteclash. I also remember enjoying it very much.
