Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

Tap at CBC 2014. Beer in the glass deep golden, small head. Fruity sweetish aroma. Notes of mango. Starts mild fruity, well balanced, not too dry. Sweet-fruity like mango and apricot. Nice!

THANKS! Light amber with off-white head. Creamy milky, thick sweet bread, thick yeast, banana, white sugar sweet, light grass in the back. Apparently this is an Abbey Tripel, well that explains that, not bad at all but not really my thing.

Tripel or Belgian IPA? That’s the question. All around wonderfully crafted ale, yeasty and hoppy, pours with a tripel’s high fluffy head. Deep hazy gold, light hoppy aroma, taste has stronger hop elements. Dry, chalky finish, mildly sweet.

Draught at Copenhagen Beer Celebration, second session. Apricot coloured body. Fair off-white head. Malt-fruity taste. Flavour of citrus, honey and grainy malts. Yeasty fruitiness to the ending. Oily palate. Rather well bodied and well crafted. Tasty (02.05.2014).

Bottle, 9.2%. The aroma starts off with a mild citric note, hint of vanilla. Almost clear copper colour. Fruity flavour, some vanilla, a little paint thinner. Distinct but clean bitterness. Refreshing for the ABV, but a bit in-your-face.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with stable off-white head. Clear, sweet aroma of malt, caramel and fruit, with subtle notes of flowers and hops. Bitter aroma of hops, with malty and fruity notes. Warming alcohol presence. Sweetish finish. If it is balanced, then it must be some weird kind of balance. Nice, though.

On tap at Tapwerks. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has notes of sweet grains and light fruits with a bit of hoppiness backing. Flavor starts with grassy and pine hops that mellow to sweet grains and light fruits in the finish.
