Bottled. Amber colour with a small slightly off-white head, which vanishes quite quickly. Aroma is smoked wet wood, some floral, mild herbal and earthy tones. Flavour is sweet malts, some mild smoked tones with mild floral and grassy tones.

Bottle shared with Dutchdrebus. Hazy red color with a slight purple haze almost. Small off-white to beige head that diminishes quickly. Smell and taste malts, some smoke, some orangepeel and herbs or spices. Decent body and carbonation. Drinkable.

Bottle. pours rather clear, amber, no real head. Smell is smokey, rather sweet. Taste is sharp, bit sweet, some malts, some hops,as well as smoke, but no overkill.

Hazy brown colored, medium- beige head. Aroma is smoked ham, sweetish, bit caramel sugary, Belgian yeast. Taste is medium+ sweet caramel, smoked ham plus the standard Belgian sugary yeasty spicy mix, low+ bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Not bad!

Bottle from Wijnegemse Drankenhal. The ’Rauchbier’ in this series, with informative label, in all quite attractive. Medium sized, lacing, lightly lacing head, retaining well on the edges and leaving an irregularly painted veil over the liquid, which has a deep, warm, clear amber colour with lively fizz, misty with deposit. Aroma of roasted bacon and smoked mackerel, but less overpowering than usual for this style, embedded in a ’Belgian yeast & malt’ profile of raw beetroot, baked banana, caramel, hazelnuts, unripe peach, fresh nettles, grass and faint hints of bubblegum and green tea; still, as the beer ’breathes’, the smokiness comes out more sharply and, in the end, does prevail over the rest. Fruity, crisp onset of dried apricot, peach, vague banana, redcurrant, with strong, sourish carbo, yet avoiding to become overcarbonated (at least to my palate); soft caramelly malt sweetness ensues with spicy yeastiness, gaining smokiness in its development and ending toasted and unmistakably smoked, almost fried bacon-like, very tasty; some earthy, spicy, somewhat resiny and mildly bittering, but perhaps insufficiently effective hops provide additional drought in the finish and caramelly ’slickness’ still creeps through in the end. Smoky alright and so far one of the more accomplished Belgian smoked beers for sure, but still captured in a Belgian ale character. Which is not a bad thing, in this particular case: the Bamberg Rauchbier tradition is cleverly hybridized with the eternal Belgian ale tradition, and so far, I have not seen any other brewery achieve this at this level of quality. The more of these Gulden Spoor beers I taste, the more I begin to like them - the (slight) disappointment about their first try-outs is long forgotten meanwhile. Recommended.

Troebel lichtbruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is rookachtig, licht zoet en ietwat zurig. Aparte combinatie die na enige gewenning beter wordt. Valt alles bij elkaar wat tegen.

22/VII/15 - 33cl bottle from the brewery @ Tom & Mieke's place - BB: n/a, bottled: XI/2014 (2015-961) Thanks to Belle for the bottle!
Little hazy amber brown beer, small creamy beige to brown head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: pretty smoky, funky, sourish, hay, malty, bit metallic. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet malty start, pretty smoky, peated, very metallic. Aftertaste: some overripe banana, pretty bitter, funky, some brett maybe?
