Cask at the Raven, Crewe (which may not be listed in RB yet – be patient !). Pours a hazy golden amber with a small white head and good lacing. Malts and a little hoppiness in the aroma. There’s a brief initial sweetness in the mouth (with summer fruits) before strongly bitter traditional hops kick in. A little citrus and some pepper too. Finish is bitter and fairly dry. This is a really good traditional Enmglish style IPA (and not a bitter by any stretch of the imagination).

500ml bottle from local shop. Clear golden colour, bubbly white foam head and aroma of malt, citric hop. Taste is pale malt, biscuit, fruity, citrus hop bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry citric bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Cask @ Polished Knob, Todmorden. Golden with a creamy head. There’s some malts in its nose and has a smooth textured hoppy taste.
