A special beer with a profound taste gained by using carameled malt while brewing. A specific fermentation process gives this beer his extraordinary after taste. Tap Only.

Thin, sharp, caramel, citrus. The start of an infection. Light caramelly cherry juice aroma. The infection adds to the character of this beer, I’m afraid.

’Dubbel’ (though hardly worthy of the name) from Pakhuis, tasted there from tap years ago. Clear mahogany clour under a thin off-white head; caramelly, candi syrup, walnuts, dried fruits, yeasty spicy notes, thin mouthfeel (even on the watery side) and, like the blonde, not enough hops to balance. Disappointing.

Tap @ pakhuis . Pours full , bit clear , dark brown & small white head . Smell is sweet , malty , chocolaty . Taste is bit bitter , some sweetness ( very light though ) and a sharp malty taste . Good carbonation . Too rhin for my taste for sure . Yet again , 5,5 is low abv for this kind of beer . It has got a nice tastepallate as well , subtile and elegant . Aftertaste is dark , sweet ( sugar or malts ? Thin line here ) and actually very good . One of the better ones i tasted from them . Would love a full bodied, 10 % - ish version of this one though cause this is simply to watery for my taste .

Backlog. Enjoyed at the brewery in 2008. Brown color. Aroma’s: sweet malts, caramel, roasted malts. Flavor is moderate sweet, caramellish. Body is light to medium. Not much of an aftertaste.

Sampled draught @ ’t Pakhuis. Red hued old furniture brown amber with little tanned head. Nose is watery brown sugar water with some caramel, brown apples, sweet spices and light syrup. Taste is watery sweet brown apples, some light malts, empty, caramel, spices and stainless steel, biscuit. Touch flatter, watery body. Better than the other ones tried there but still very far from stellar. Everyone but me classified this one as by the worst one. Seems to have less if even no issues – still far from a nice brew. Boo to all of their beers.

On tap at the brewpub. A clear, copper colored beer with a big, off-white head. The aroma has a decent mix of dried fruits, cellar and caramel, some fresh fruits too. Sweet caramel flavor with a pleasant touch of dried fruits and yeast. Rather thin on the palate. Short finish too. Certainly more pleasant than the blond. 110429
