A special beer with a profound taste gained by using carameled malt while brewing. A specific fermentation process gives this beer his extraordinary after taste. Tap Only.

Tap at the brewhouse. Near clear, dark brown body. Ring of bubbles to the rim of the glass. Sweet malty nose. Rather sharp roasted caramel malts to the taste buds added by hints of butter. Bittering malts to the ending. Feels a bit watered in the mouth (Antwerpen, 29.04.2011).

On tap at the brewpub. Almost clear brown body with a fine, dense off-white head. Aroma is mild caramel and slightly roasted. Flavor is refreshing malty, light caramel and light bitterness. Nothing really extraordinary, but refreshing and balanced thirst-quencher.

27/02/2011 - on tap @ 't Pakhuis (2011-71)

Pretty clear purple brown beer, beige creamy head, non adhesive and only a little stable. No carbon in the glass. Aroma: mocha, chocolate, some little bit of dried fruits, spices (ginger). MF: light carbon, light to medium body. Taste: caramel, bit of mocha, some spices, a little bitter (hops). Aftertaste: some mocha, souch cherries or forrest fruits, again just a little bit bitter.
Note: Even more than the blond version, this beer is way too cold when served from the tap. Warming up the glass with both hands does miracles towards aroma's and taste.

(Draught at the brewpub) The beer poured dark brown and quite cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, caramell and Belgian style yeast. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, mildly black pepper, hint of Belgian yeast, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. Tastewise nothing wrong but boring.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden deep amber brown with a dense off-white head leaving a nice lacing head on the glass. Aroma is mild fruity yeasty and with a nice roasted malty note. Flavour has the same light frity note, lightly towards acidic. Nice roasted malty and mildly spiced. Minor liqourice note into the finish. Lasting roasted, mild spiced and quite bitter finish.

Big swing top bottle
Light but brown color, small white head. Light malty, weird smokey-burnt sugary aroma. Very acidic, woody and metallic flavor. Propably a bit past its prime.

Draught. Rubyish amber colour, mediumsized creamy beige head. Aroma is yeast along with a lot of caramel. Flavour is caramel, malts, yeast and very bitter hops. Some slight roasted notes also noted. Refreshing also this one, but quite boring and watery.

Leicht süß-malziger Geruch. Nett. Test vom 29.5.2007, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 8,11,12,11,-,11 - 10,84

Bottled. Dark amber, explosive lively head. Milky sour with some tart raspberries. Dry, clean and sparkling with light-medium body and sme caramel. Freshening Rodenbach style acidity lifts this beer.
