3 Fonteinen Robijn is the result of macerating hand-picked whole sour cherries on lambic in a toasted oak barrel, for at least four months and in a proportion of one kilogram of fruit per litre of lambic. This sour cherry lambic is then blended with more lambic to obtain a minimum intensity of 35% fruit. The kriek lambic ferments in the bottle for at least another five months, and develops into a more complex Oude Kriek. This unfiltered and unpasteurised lambic is all-natural with no artificial juices, syrups, or sugars added. Bottle fermented, unfiltered and unpasteurised.

750ml (thx, Max C.!) @ Sales Force. Assemblage #100. Appearance: nice murky purple with a slightly rose head. Aroma: funky, lots of cherries with a light soapy character on the back. Taste: lots of cherries, some 3F mineral notes, woody character, moderately acidic. Overall: pretty good.

750mL bottle, pours an opaque deep dark rusted red / mahogany with a small white head. Nose is complex and deep, with intense barnyard funk, deep cherry, cherry pit, and some marzipan. Flavour is full of cherry pits, tart jammy cherries, light-to-moderate funk, and a tiny touch of phenols. Jammy, with lots of cherry pit and again a bit of the phenols. The smell is more impressive. The flavour is indeed pleasant, but those light phenolic notes are a tiny bit detracting. Still great, but not as well-executed as some other 3F beers.

Bottle at home. 18/19 Blend 79. Pours a slightly cloudy red colour with a very small off-white head. Aroma of cherries, red currants, lemonade, barn yard and apple cider vinegar. Flavour of citric acid, cherries, apple cider vinegar and oak. Has a slick mouth feel, medium body and a light bitterness. Quite sour and filled with cherries.

Bouteille 75cl, bottled 06/06/2019, BB 26/10/2039. From one of the online sales.
