Bottle from Hopt. Aroma is yeast, wheaty pale malt, banana, some citrus, soft floral notes and clove. Flavour is mild sweet and bitter with a medium body. Nothing to do with Hazy IPA ofcourse, but as a hoppy Belgian Ale this is fine.

33cl bottle from Delhaize Chazal in Brussels. F: medium, white, not long lasting. C: gold, hazy. A: orange, tangerine, banana, bit honey, herbal, vaguely fruity all together. T: medium malty base, orange, watery tangerine, bit herbal hoppy, banana, yeasty touch, honey, medium carbonation, not NEIPA yet not bad beer beside this.

Pours a slightly hazed blonde, medium , stable white head. Scent is duvel-like, tad more aromatic perhaps. very malty and heavel focussed on Noble hops. Not what I expect from a NEIPA, so I'm happy they don't call it that, and describe it as a Hazy IPA. I truly think we need to enforce these 2 styles as being not the same at all, though many people seem to not understand the difference. Taste is sharp, bitter, noble hops, heavy ( and I mean heavy ) on the phenols. belgian yeast all the way. Dry, grassy / earthy complex noble hop aroma. Not as aromatic as I expect from an IPA. Very high carbonation , medium to medium thin body . It's more of an unbalanced, less enjoyable Duvel. No brewing flaws though (perhaps a tad to high phenols?) . It makes scence as a Belgian IPA - at best - but it won't make the modern IPA lovers happy. It's hazy, thats true. So technically, they're not wrong calling it a hazy (Belgian) IPA, but of course it won't match the expectations of those expecting a modern IPA.

Minimal säuerlicher Beginn. Viel Hopfen, leicht hefig, feinherb. Hohe Süffigkeit, mit der Zeit trockener und etwas herber. Hopfig würziger Abgang. Gut trinkbar. 7/10/10/10/9/10

Bottle from Geers. Pours clear - almost hazy - golden with a lasting, thin, foamy, white head. Aroma of ripe banana, butter, white bread, canned peach & pineapple, yellow apple, honey. Taste has sweet pineapple, banana & ripe yellow apple, so quite an estery profile for starters, butter (diacetyl) & white bread maltiness in the middle, somewhat spicy (pepper, clove) & yeasty in the back. Dryish, grassy-floral hoppy finish, estery & honeyish still, some ripe yellow fruits lingering but far from actually 'tropical', even a hint of white rum-like alcohol. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. I'm even doubtful to call it a Belgian IPA, whilst the feared butter returns which I also found in a recent Duvel Barrel Aged. Thumbs down!
