Bottle from Appellation Wines, stashed away for a wee bit. Pours clear deep red-brown with a short-lived thin tan head. Strong aromas of bourbon and dark sugar. You can smell it from some distance! Taste is rich, dark fruit cake, bourbon, leather, wood, spice and booze heat. Woodiness builds, but behind it is a lovely roast malt combo, with layers of cocoa and dried fruit. Lovely stuff. Wish I'd kept another one.

Bottle, gift from Pam. Clear ruby/brown body with a thin beige head. Low carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of brown sugar, Christmas pudding, treacle and rum. Flavour of cigar, Dr Pepper, fig and caramel. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. A big, bold, complex beer. Very nice indeed - probably better suited to a smaller bottle though.

Bottle at tasting. Aroma of caramelised malt, raisin, vanilla, caramel fudge, figs and dates. Taste has rich caramel fudge, vanilla, raisin, figs, dates, caramelised malt, oak and booze. Body is a bit thin, but the flavor is quite nice.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - Nose - tar, raisin, dark chocolate and light smoke. Then boozy wood. Taste - boozy chocolate liqueur. Whisky and chocolate. Nougat then becomes strongest note. Palate - rich and full bodied. Creamy and boozy. Complex. Overall - chocolate whisky liqueur.

Bottle picked up at Westhill SS. It pours darkest brown to black with a thick, foamy light tan head. The aroma is sweet and sticky, lovely bourbon vibes, toasted coconut, vanilla, bounty bar, rocky road, toasted brown sugars, sweet roast, dark chocolate and some chocolate donuts. The taste is slick, oily, chewy, toothy, sticky, bitter - sweet, roasted malt, coffee grounds, brown sugar, oak, vanilla, bourbon, toasted coconut, touch of green banana dipped in chocolate, dark chocolate bounty bar, rocky road and some light alcohol warmth with a slick, sweet chocolate gateaux finish. Fulsome body, fine carbonation and oily mouth feel. A rich and toothy number. Nice fresh bourbon BA vibes. Moreish.
