Draught. Black colour, not much head. Aroma is liquorice, spices, wood, some cooked vegetables and mild tart berries. Flavour is liquorice, some red wine notes, spices, mild alcohol with some cooked vegetables and mild toffee. Strange tartness, otherwise quite nice.

Trockener, verbrannt rauchiger Geruch. Fein säuerlicher Beginn, röstige Kaffeenoten, dabei ungewöhnlich trocken bleibend. Nuancen von Kakao, mild säuerlicher Abgang. Mit Sicherheit kein Bier für jedermann! 9/11/10/11/12/11

Intensywne, niewiele ciala, niecodzienna paleta... przyprawy, jakies dymne klimaty, ciemne owoce, ciut dziegciu, ciut cierpkosci, ciut kwaskowatosci... raczej wynalazek, niecalkiem pod gust

Tap at TCBW 2018. Pours black with beige head. Aroma is sour, roast, coffee, vinegar. Flavor follows the nose. Overall: nah, not my kind of thing at all.

Spiced and barrel aged coffee stout from a three year old, 37.5 cl bottle, shared with Goedele. Slow gusher, but manageable. Moussy, pale beige, regularly shaped, creamy head, slowly dissolving in the middle, over a pitch black beer. Aroma carries a lot of sharp, 'green' coffee beans and bitter black chocolate, next to black peppercorns, dried bell pepper, butterscotch, burnt toast, tea, tree branches, balsamic vinegar and old red wine, dusty old wood, glue, toasted walnuts, but little of the saffron, gentian, rhubarb or quinine which apparently went in here as well. Fruity onset, tart brambleberries and indeed a somewhat rhubarb-like sour touch, old raisins, unripe grapes, covering a core of peachy sweetishness; refined, lambrusco-like carbonation, smooth and oily, full mouthfeel. Nutty and toasty bitter malt body, becoming more bitter in the finish and eventually roasted, with this roastedness accentuated by the added coffee; drying wood tannins too, an earthy hop bitterness - and indeed a more spicy, late bitterness which likely has something to do with the gentian and the cinchona - but the saffron remains completely hidden, which is a bit of a shame really (also because of its expensive price). Ends toasty and roasted bitter, spicy, earthy and dryingly tart, with a red wine aspect in the tail as well as warming, whisky-ish alcohol. Quite a complex, multi-sided sour stout, with the tartness coming both from the barrel aging (in other words: infectious, desired or not) and from the rhubarb, but the first factor is much stronger than the second and the spices, supposing they were noticeable in the beginning, have all but faded away. I do not miss them, though: this is not the most accessible stout around, but in any case another clever and inspired example of how these creative Italian craft brewers are able to integrate aspects of their 'terroir' into their beers. Italian brews like this never cease to fascinate me.

Very black color with small beige head. Chalk and ashes, espresso, but also a fruity sourness. This dry chalky character is very irritating. The sourness gives some sort of a balance. Very very dry. Low carbonation.
