Bottle from KrausenJockey, drunk 5/1/2008.
From beermail sent to KrausenJockey, "just opened my first Decadence grand cru. Despite your suggestions, I cellared it at about 50 degrees for the last 6 months or so and just opened it and poured it in a champagne/lambic flute. Absolutely stunning and perfectly carbonated! The sweet/dry balance is perfect as well. No flaws whatsoever and the malt just shines through. I’m not rating right now, but I’d probably give it a 9 aroma, 5 appearance, 9 flavor, 4 palate and 18 overall.

Hope you’re doin well, tell aspidites that I haven’t forgot I owe him beer."

Draft. Rich amber beer with an off-white head. Tart, cherry aroma that’s a little bready. Woodsy, tart/sour cherry flavor with good malt presence. Lingering woodsy, tart, cherry. Medium bodied.

Noogfest Thanks to Beerguy101 for bringing this one to share. Firm white head over a hazy medium gold body. Typical funky, sour Belgian aroma. Lightly sweet with a sour acidic bite.

Draft at the Bistro’s West Coast BA Fest, 11/10/07; nose of oak, hops, fruit, light spices and tartness; copper with a small beige head; flavor of lemons apples, caramel, and only light tartness! Enjoyable!

Tried twice now, once shared by EDA and once by CaptainCougar, both at different RB gatherings, both in hand bottled bombers. More orange colored than red. Aroma has some vinegar, only lightly balsamic, and a very fruity sour. taste is sour with a malt-like maltiness, like fruit muffin. Medium body, lightly sticky/syrupy mouthfeel. I feel some alcoholic-sour in the aftertaste, which is unlike any sour flavor (must come from the blending).

Thanks to CaptainCougar for sharing - flemish sour? - for real? - I never would have guessed - clear straw/copper pour - aroma is equal parts belgian sugar and tart fruit skins (apple, white grapes) - quite indicative of the flavor - semi-tart apple and pear - relatively high acidity (now I know why) - a bit floral on the back end - medium alcohol presence (but still fairly low considering the abv) - decent.
