Reviewed from notes. Thanks Nicole.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a nice looking brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There’s some nice lightly speckled lacing weaving down the sides of the glass.
The smell had a nice roasted nutty toffee with a nice backup by some caramel and bready notes.
The taste was sweet, nutty, bready with a rich caramel and toffee combination.
On the palate, this sat about a light to medium with a nice sessionable aspect about it. The carbonation was right where it should be for the style and for me. The way this one rolls across my tongue is spectacular as there’s a really nice creamy and nutty sweetness that really makes this one be a really good one.
Overall, one of my all time favorite brown ales that I truly miss when I lived on the East Coast, one day I hope to see you again...one day.

12 oz. bottle. Dark brown color, nearly opaque. Thin, white, creamy head. Great lacing and presentation. Malty aroma, with a faint nuttiness. A nice light, malt flavor up front...mouthfeel has a slight crispness. Noticeable hop presence quickly blends into the back. Finish again has a nice hop taste as it warms, with a slight nuttiness. Very well done brown ale.

Big thanks to LilBeerDoctor for helping me procure this sample! Smell is simply clean. Nice looking darker beer. Taste starts off like wet roasty old campfire wood. This elevates to a medium back of throat bitterness. Later, this beer comes across almost like an ESB or sumthin. A smoother bitter drink that possesses a creamy CO2 feel. Mild at times and at other times a bit more personality. Finish is somewhat hoppy for lack of a better description. Lots of personality on the finish too, has a little more wake up than most nut browns. Very glad to have had the chance to taste this, thanks LilBeerDoctor, you rock!

12oz bottle–pours a rich light tan head that laces and brown with orange color. Aroma is chocolate-medium malt, earthy, roasty. Taste is chocolate/molasses-medium malt, roasty, secondary earthy/sharp (not quite coppery) hops bite. Medium/full body.

This beer came in my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with a medium sized brown head. The aroma was bitter, roasty and had a sharp floral hop element. The flavor was bitter, roasty, smoky, and malty with a touch of wood underneath. The finish was long, roasty and smoky. Not really my style. Ok.

Pours deep brown into a shaker. Tan micro head with excellent retention leaves spider lacing as is recedes to skim surface. Spicy caramel aromas. Smooth dark caramel and pecans. Slight hop in the finish.

Pours a beige head with a pretty dark brown body. Malty aroma with nuts and caramel. Taste is molasses, nuts, malts, and caramel. Nutty finish. Sort of semisweet. I really enjoyed this brew.

Bottle from beastiefan2k (thanks, Eugene!) - copper/brown pour, with small lace - quite a hoppy aroma, with some biscuity british maltiness going on, light nuttiness, some caramel, earthy character - fairly grassy, dry, herbal, with quite a high hop profile for the style - slight caramel sweetness and bready malt flavors - mineral/chalkiness on the back end - tastes more like and ESB than a brown ale - fairly tasty, but lacking ay memorable or distinguishing character.

12 oz bottle poured into motel styrofoam cup, classy. So lets say the color is brown, but it pours with a large, strong foamy beer. Aroma is a bit of a kicked up brown ale, wet bark maltiness, earthy hops, very woodsy, wet forest thing going for it. The taste is a bit more low key, lightly caramel wet wood. A light bodied, medium bittered. A thirst quencher with a slight kcik, revisit-able.

Pours a nice dark brown, with some lighter chestnut brown tones. Faint aroma, dry nutty, some coffee and malt. Very similar recipe to their porter and is basically just a toned down version with toffee/nut malt in place of the bigger chocolate. As body warms, is very mild and smooth. Dry hops flavor on the finish, mildly acidic, quite bitter. Good balance as usual from Ipswich. Could stand a good amount more flavor though to really make me want to drink this. I'll take the porter or the dark any time over this.
