On tap @ Kilmeyers in Staten Island, NY. Poured into a .5 Liter Pilsner glass. Color is golden yellow and cloudy. Cannot see through the beer. The aroma is Belgian-like, best way I could describe it. Maybe the pilsner glas interfers with a proper evaluation. Poured with a half inch head. Best way for me to describe the taste us that it is a cheap version of a Duvel. Goes down smooth, a Duvel-like aftertaste but in a minimal manner.

Clear orange color with a creamy white head that lasts a while. Sweet light caramel aroma with hints of spice. Sweet light fizzy flavor with spice in the end.

Draught pint at Redbones on 3/17/06
Cloudy, but bright curacao orange-yellow body, fully hazy, with a sticky dollop of creamy white head atop that is wonderfully well-retained and provides intense lacing.
The nose smells like a German hefe weizen. A strong one that is. Funny how much a strong hefe weizen, a duvel-clone and an abbey trippel have in common. Anyhow, the definite note rising is the clove and bubblegum mix, with spicy hops, fully utilized and complementing the comforting pils and aromatic malts, deep, and pillowy. Very spicy, with no sign of the alcohol, maybe just a touch of dryness. Seemingly wheaty, though not knowing much about duvel, I dont know if this really has any wheat in it. Maybe oats or something. A strong vanilla-banana presence as well, with dry cedar-like notes and certainly no brett (not sure where weeare’s gettin that).
The flavor is heavily spicy, with clove and white pepper phenols, coriander dryness and plenty of yellow fruit esters. Spicy hops again add complexity, while a sweetly malty, well-extracted honey and light biscuit malt note provides ample texture. Low carbonation, no wateriness, well-masked alcohol. Could stand to be a little more perfumey and estery for a duvel clone (if that’s indeed what it is), but the amped up hop level is very entertaining.

Hazy blonde with a thin white head. Light coriander notes marries well with sweet honey malt. Decent blonde belgian with light corinader, curacao, but still nothing exceptional. Decent. At EBF 2006.

Tap at Barcade - probably the most spicy belgian-style I’ve ever had (which is saying a lot) - the nose is all grass, coriander, grains of paradise, white pepper (it’s almost overwhelming) - the flavor is the same, but there is just enough lemon zest and mildly sweet malt to keep the spices from getting out of control - pretty nice beer.
