Very dark brown with some visible sediment. Aroma has malt, some red wine, red meat and a little smoke. Flavor is sweet, lightly smoked, and a very light tart flavor. Good.

12 oz bottle. $2 single @ Ray’s, Wauwautosa. Not quite "black," but still a deep brown pour in my shaker glass, with a nice eggshell colored head. Smell shows just a little bit of peat, and a slight touch of phenol. Taste is quite a bit of all right, though. Yes,warm, slightly smoked Scotch malts without the hint of harsh black malt bitterness. Much malt forward, website lists this as 6.3% abv. No discernible hops outside of a balance to the malts. Though somewhere down there I detect a note of pineapple juice. Or is that phenol? No, don’t think so. Very nice, warm beer that could stand to be issued in bombers or barreled.

A fairly light and unremarkable scotch ale - nose of peat, burnt popcorn, light acidity that smells like the onset of an infection - a lot of dry, earthy peat up front, followed by moderate, clean sweetness - some infected character/acidity on the tail end - tastes like it might have promise sans this infection.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of Skyview. Thanks! Pours a dark brown color with a creamy medium sized offwhite head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is toffee with an almost roasty note. Taste is very strong with the peat with an almost vegetal character along with caramel and toffee. Some roastiness as well. Medium bodied. Peculiar. Interesting. Decent.

Draft at OF. Deep black color with a thin head. Sweet caramel toffee tones. Thin sweet Black malt, almost Dunkel-like with an earthy mild bitterness. Sweet sugary aftertaste. Mild watery finishing mouthfeel. Sort of like a failed attempt at a McEwans Scottish Ale. Addendum: I found the bottle to be much better than what I had on tap. The smoky, mossy peat really shines through..upped the overall from a 12 to a 15.

Bottle from skyview, thanks Bob. Pours with barely any head and a very dark brown color, no light edges at all. Aroma is strong on a dry Russian black bread, very earthy and dry. I don’t know if its the peat or what by its really cool. Some light alcohol comes through as it warms up. Taste has that same sweetness on top of the black bread with a very dark soil, earthiness, dry, bark-y, just a spectacular splendor of dark, earthy, deep,. Scottish beer. Some chocolate notes in the flavor as well. A bit of earthy bitterness at the end.

Bottle shared by juiceisloose. Cloudy dark brown with tan head. Dark fruit and caramel aroma with a touch of smoke. Similar sweet flavors with some tarness and sourness. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Deep brown. Rich brown sugar molasses nose, appealing. Nice chocolatey malt flavors, leading to a semi dry finish and just a kiss of a spicy hop.
